Kabini River Resort:

Kabini River Lodge, run by the Karnataka Tourism is a delightful place set on the banks of the river Kabini, dammed to create a large backwaters teeming with bird life. Kabini River Lodge offers a lush slice of paradise. The greatest attraction here is the convergence of spectacular wildlife and birdlife on the banks of River Kabini. An old hunting lodge of the Maharaja of Mysore, the ethnic resort with colonial style bungalows, cottages and tented accommodation offers a tranquil getaway.

It is the home to the Indian bison, wild boar, elephants, leopards, chital, barking deer and the occasional tiger, the resort situated on the edge of the Nagarhole Wildlife Sanctuary is also famous for its teeming birdlife. Morning jeep safaris into the jungle is an excellent ride. A ride on the river Kabini in a coracle (a native boat shaped like a round, flat basket) provides ample opportunity for wildlife sightings.

Location:

Kabini is a tributary of the river Cauvery that surronds the river lodge. It is located at Karapur, South of Nagarhole Wildlife National Park, Karnataka. The lodge is spread over 55 acres.

How to Get There:

It is 22kms from Bangalore by road via Mysore.
80 Kms from Mysore on Mysore-Mananthavadi Road.
240kms from Ooty via Mysore.


Route map is : Bangalore - Ramnagar - Mandya- Srirangapatna - Mysorering road - Hampapura - Handpost - HD Kote Junction - Antharasanthe - Karapura- Kabini.

Best Season to visit:

Open throughout the year. Best time to visit is in the month of October - March.

Activities in Kabini:

Jeep Safari, Elephant rides, Coracle Boat rides, Motor Boat rides, Nature walks, viewing of birds etc.,

Accomodation:

Colonial style Bungalows, Cottages and Tented Cottages are available. These are very expensive, well furnished, hygenic and clean with attached baths.

Shivapura is a small area in Maddur town. This place is situated in Bangalore-Mysore State Highway.Maddur is famous for " Maddur Wada".

In Shivapura you can see the "Satyagraha Soudha" which is made for freedom fighters.

This "Soudha" is situated entrance of Maddur Railway station.
